Hi guys! I enjoyed reading this extremely useful article as I am job-hunting to teach English in China. I am not a native speaker, though, and it takes huge research to understand the realities on the Chinese ESL jobs market and make the right choice of a school. In my opinion, somehow, there is this idea that it is all about getting work permit to apply for Z visa and work legally. It is not that easy, let alone tightened regulations for foreign workers, non native English teachers. So, is it wise to consider a training center (mostly, I get offers from the South of China) as an ultimate option just to hold on to something and have the guarantees of getting work permit? I also bear in mind scam schemes, which makes me be cautious in my search. I contact many recruiters and they all are like: Yeah, you are welcome to apply, we will get you everything.....So, the North seems more feasible? Any advice is appreciated.
