For example, ‘object – has a stress on the first syllable, it means the thing-noun but if the stress is on the second syllable, obje’ct, its means disagree or oppose-verb. This applies to re’fuse-refu’se, etc. Then, there’s the homographs…My pet peeve is mistaking the contraction ‘they’re’ for the pronoun ‘their’ or you’re for ‘your’.
